The Art of Saabira Razac

Welcome to the World Of SRA

Hello there,

My name is Saabira Razac and I am a Visual Artist. I enjoy everything and anything this relates to Art. Art has been my vessel to express my thoughts and ideas.

I get the fabulous opportunity to create Art that is meaningful to me and share them with anyone interested.

I created SRA as a playground for bringing those who love Art together. I know sometimes it’s hard to find your little pocket of creative expression.

I wanted SRA to be a place for you to learn and enjoy everything there is to know about making great Art.

My Art Journey

Growing up I knew I was a little different. My favorite subjects at school always included the homework where you could draw something. I can remember learning plant biology and having so much fun drawing the insides of flowers and leaves than the actual science.

As I got older, I gravitated to the Arts. I studied Literature and History in High School. I loved reading others describe moments in the past with such vivid writing. They would paint a picture of a far off place and time, I could see it, as clear as day in my head.

I attended the University of Waterloo, where I studied Economics as my major. In my 2nd year, I had the opportunity to take an elective and I decided on an Art History course.

I was hooked. I loved learning about how people lived and things they thought about. I knew my path was not just to be an Economist.

Changing Paths

I convinced my parents that studying Fine Art was where I needed to be. There was some persuading and compromising, but finally they agreed for me to have a 2nd Major in Fine Arts.

I was faced with an opportunity that I never thought was possible.

I began my 2nd major at a great disadvantage to my new artistic peers. Everyone had a year of University level Art skill behind them and there I was, a newbie starting for the 1st time, in the 2nd year group.

I would share by time with Econometric Theories and learning to paint a Nude with Oil Paints. I was out of my element, afraid but determined.

In 2012, after 3 years of back to back semesters, I finally graduated with an Honours Bachelors of Fine Arts and a Bachelors of Economics.

I couldn’t believe that I made it through.

That I had the skill and technique to be taken seriously as an Artist.

My Mentors

During my Artistic Academic career, I had amazing Professors. My Painting Professor shared so many enlightening tools I still use to this day.

He taught me that there really is no wrong answer when it comes to making Art. All you need is a clear vision and an idea.

I teach my students to not be afraid.

It doesn’t matter if what you do looks beautiful and perfect. What matters is your hand, making those marks that tell the story you choose to share.

To me, great Art comes from a place within us.

It is the retelling of something within, only known to you. Your job, as an Artist is to share this inner thought with others.

You are the vessel of your thoughts. You tell us what you see.

Throughout my journey, My Art has taken on two distinct Styles. Smooth, undulating Representational Figure Drawings and completely unhinged freeform flowing Abstraction.

My Artistic thoughts have never been just one thing. I love the sophistication of a smooth tonal cell shaded figure as well as the hectic, chaotic nature of true abstraction.

As my Art Professors used to say, show us how you feel. Tell us what you think. Use your hands to make something that moves us.

So I humbly place these words in my pocket and exhale as I begin each new piece. I let my mind choose the way, let my hands follow and the story unfolds.

To me and to you.

Grab this moment for you

When you join the SRA Community you get the opportunity to learn to create and think like an Artist.

Most, if not all of my students have joined as beginners. They learn to be vulnerable to their thoughts and emotions and in so doing, open themselves up to greater forms of expression.

Art is meant to be personal, real and unique to the maker. At SRA, I help you realise the Art you want to make and help you bring them to life.

The SRA Community offers an array of learning opportunities. No matter what option you choose, you will gain so much.
